Case Study: Europabank

Europabank is a Belgian bank, founded in 1964, with 47 branches across Belgium and a back office in Ghent. Around 340 employees keep the bank running, and Europabank digitises and streamlines its internal processes every single day.

There was just one thing that could no longer keep that pace: its intranet. Information was scattered, the platform was static, and every change had to pass through IT.

An outdated intranet that could no longer keep up

Europabank digitises and streamlines its internal processes every day, but its existing intranet could no longer keep that pace. Three things kept getting in the way:

• No central platform. There was no single place for internal communication and document management. Information and documents were scattered across multiple systems.
• Outdated and static. The previous intranet was outdated and static, without interactive features such as comments or likes.
• Everything ran through IT. Content updates could only be made via the IT department, which caused delays and made daily work harder.

Europabank was looking for one central, user-friendly platform with interactive features that fit seamlessly into their existing IT infrastructure.

The Business Process Management department went looking for a new intranet. The choice fell on Involv intranet, built on Microsoft SharePoint, aligning seamlessly with the existing IT infrastructure.

Live through eight to ten workshops

In September 2023, an intensive process kicked off with eight to ten workshops across different teams. The collaboration ran smoothly: colleagues could ask questions directly and learned by doing.

A warm, festive start

In March 2024 the intranet went live, coinciding with Easter. Europabank pulled out all the stops to unveil the platform: birth announcement cards, Easter chocolates for all staff, and departments acting as godmothers or godfathers. It sparked curiosity, engagement and a broadly supported start.
