You publish an important message on the intranet… and then nothing happens.
Few clicks, no reactions, zero engagement.
Not because the message isn’t important, but because it doesn’t land.
With the 3C model, you give every intranet post more power: more relevance, more direction and more interaction. Without complexity. Just better structured and more clearly formulated.
1. Context: Why should someone read this?
Employees receive dozens of messages every day. So why should they read yours?
The answer lies in the context. You need to clearly explain why something is important, who it’s for and what value it brings. Not in lengthy explanations, but in one or two clear sentences.
Example
❌ “There’s a new guideline on hybrid working.”
✅ “Starting in May, you’ll get more freedom in how and where you work. That’s why we’re updating the hybrid work policy.”
2. Call-to-action: What do you want someone to do?
Many intranet posts lack direction. You tell people what’s changing, but not what they’re supposed to do with it. That leads to confusion, delays or simply… no reaction.
A strong call-to-action is:
-
Concrete – What exactly do I need to do?
-
Action-oriented – Use active verbs
-
Simple – Make it easy to click, respond, or participate
Example
❌ “Click here for more info.”
✅ “Read the new policy in 3 minutes.”
✅ “Register for the training – only 10 spots left.”
✅ “Download the checklist and review it with your team.”
3. Conversation: What can the reader say back?
Broadcasting only gets you so far. If you want to build real engagement, you need to listen too. Your intranet can be much more than a digital noticeboard.
Create low-barrier moments for employees to make their voices heard.
This could be through:
-
A short poll (“What’s your biggest challenge with hybrid working?”)
-
A comment field under an update
-
A digital suggestion box for feedback or ideas
-
An internal social feed for informal sharing
Example
📢 Share an update about a new internal tool. End with:
“What do you think? Leave your feedback below or vote in the poll.”
Why it works
The 3C model helps make every intranet post:
- More relevant (Context)
- More actionable (Call-to-action)
- More human and engaging (Conversation)
And all without extra effort. It’s in how you structure, write and publish. Do it well, and you’ll repeat yourself less – while reaching more people with less friction.
